Healthcare website design built for every patient

The person booking an appointment may be unwell, anxious, on a small phone, or using a keyboard or screen reader instead of a mouse. A practice website has to work for all of them on the first try. Below is a working site for a multi-clinic practice: provider search, a directory and booking you can complete with a keyboard alone. That's our healthcare website design, running.

Demo 05 · Healthcare

Carrowfield Health, a primary care practice with four clinics, a filterable provider directory, a booking calendar and a confirmation that repeats every detail.

We built this site to show what we build. Carrowfield Health is an invented brand, like every brand in our demos, and none of them is a client.

What a practice website has to get right

Patients come to a practice website with a task: find a provider, book a visit, check an address. Every extra step or unclear label is a phone call your front desk has to take.

Clinic website design that says where to go.

A plain guide to primary care, urgent care, video visits and emergencies, with the emergency line at the top of every page and again in the footer.

A doctor directory website patients can narrow.

Filters for specialty, location, language, visit type and new-patient status, with the result count announced to screen readers each time it changes.

Booking that never relies on colour.

On a patient appointment booking website, booked and open slots differ by label and pattern as well as colour. The confirmation repeats every detail in full and offers to add it to a calendar.

Accessible website design as the look itself.

Visible focus rings, strong contrast, a skip link and reduced motion honoured throughout. The design is built around these choices, so none of them feels bolted on.

Try this in the demo

  1. Press Tab from the top of the page. The first stop is a skip link, and every control after it shows a clear focus ring.

  2. In the provider directory, tick Accepting new patients. Nine providers become seven, and the new count is announced.

  3. Book with Dr. Julian Osei on Tuesday, September 29. Booked slots say "Booked" and can't be chosen, and the first open slot is 9:00 am.

  4. Confirm the appointment. The confirmation repeats the details in full, with add to calendar and a list of what to bring.

Each of those details was a decision, and on your site every one follows your own providers and clinics.

Built around your practice

A medical practice website usually grows piece by piece: a directory added one year, a booking tool another, forms somewhere else. We design it as one journey instead, from "where should I go?" to a confirmed appointment, with the same clear patterns on every screen.

Booking only helps if it shows real availability. We build and run business systems as well as websites, so the calendar can read open slots from the scheduling system your clinics already use, and a booked appointment goes straight back into it. Every demo we've built sits on our web design page.

How a project starts

  1. 01

    Discover.

A call about your practice: your clinics and providers, and where scheduling lives today.

  2. 02

    Design.

We map the directory and booking against your real providers, and you click through them before anything is built.

  3. 03

    Build.

Engineered to load fast and to be tested with a keyboard and a screen reader before launch. Delivered in working increments.

  4. 04

    Launch, and after.

We ship it, and we stay on as providers join and clinics open.

FAQ

How do you approach accessibility?

As part of the design, not a final check. The demo shows the features we build in: keyboard use from top to bottom, visible focus, strong contrast, text labels on every state and reduced motion. We test each build with a keyboard and a screen reader.

Can patients book against our real schedule?

Yes. We connect the booking calendar to the scheduling system your clinics use, so patients only see slots that are genuinely open.

Can we list providers across several clinics?

Yes. Each provider can work at one or more clinics, and patients can filter the directory by location and language, down to providers taking new patients.

Can the site link to our patient portal?

Yes. The portal link sits in the top bar on every page, and confirmations can point patients there to complete forms before a visit.
