Construction website design that shows the work

Owners choose a builder by looking at what that builder has already finished. So a construction website has one job: put the finished work in front of them, organised the way they search for it. Below is a working site for a general contractor, with a project portfolio, before-and-after comparisons and a build timeline you can scroll. That's our construction website design, running, before any pitch.

Demo 04 · Construction

Stonevarre Builders, a general contractor for clinics, labs, libraries and logistics centres, with a filterable project index, before-and-after sliders and a flagship build timeline.

We built this site to show what we build. Stonevarre Builders is an invented brand, like every brand in our demos, and none of them is a client.

What a contractor website has to prove

An owner's representative shortlisting builders asks two questions. Have you built this kind of building? And will you finish it on time? Good contractor website design answers both before anyone picks up the phone.

A project portfolio website that filters the way owners think.

Market, delivery method, status and location, with a live result count. A facilities director planning a clinic wants to see healthcare work delivered under CM at risk, not a slideshow of everything since the firm began.

A before-and-after gallery for work that photographs badly.

Renovation and adaptive reuse can look ordinary in a single photo. A drag slider over the same view, before and after, shows what the crew actually changed.

Timelines that answer in dates.

A build timeline from preconstruction to handover, with the current stage marked in words as well as colour, answers the schedule question with evidence instead of adjectives.

Room for the trades.

A general contractor website serves subcontractors as well as owners. Safety facts sit on the homepage, and trade partners get a clear route to prequalify and receive invitations to bid.

Try this in the demo

  1. Drag the before-and-after slider on Old Mill Lofts, from vacant mill to finished homes.

  2. Scroll the Riverside Science Hall timeline: six milestones from January 2024 to a December 2026 handover, with the current stage marked.

  3. On the projects page, filter to CM at risk and Completed. Seven projects become two.

  4. Add Hospitality to that filter. Nothing matches yet, and the page says so, with one button to clear it.

Each of those details was a decision, and on your site every one follows your own projects.

Built from your project list

Builder website design that starts from a template gives every firm the same carousel. We start from your project list instead: the markets you want more of and the jobs that prove you can deliver in them. Filters, project pages and homepage figures are built from that list, so the site gets stronger every time you hand over a building.

Project information rarely lives in one place. Photos sit on a shared drive, while project sizes and dates sit in estimating and scheduling software. We build and run business systems as well as websites, so the project index can draw on records you already keep, instead of a second copy someone has to remember to update. Every demo we've built sits on our web design page. Developers selling homes before they're built need a different kind of site, and we show one here: real estate website design for developers.

How a project starts

  1. 01

    Discover.

A call about your firm: the work you want more of, and where your photos and project facts live today.

  2. 02

    Design.

We map the portfolio and a project page against your real projects, and you click through them before anything is built.

  3. 03

    Build.

Engineered to load fast, even on a site office connection, and to stay easy to update. Delivered in working increments.

  4. 04

    Launch, and after.

We ship it, and we stay on to add projects as you complete them.

FAQ

Can we add new projects ourselves?

Yes. Each project is a single record holding its facts and photos, and adding one takes minutes. Filters and counts on the projects page update on their own.

Our best work is renovation. How does the site show it?

With a before-and-after slider on each renovation project. It shows the change that a single finished photo can't, which is exactly what an owner planning a renovation wants to see.

Can the site support bids for public work?

It can carry what a bid team checks first: project facts sorted by market and delivery method, next to your safety record. It doesn't replace a prequalification package, but it makes the first look easy.
